Pastor James Honig


Pastor James K. Honig is Senior Pastor of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, with responsibilities in worship, preaching, leadership development, and pastoral care.

Pastor Honig grew up in western Nebraska and graduated from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska in 1982, majoring in speech and theater. He graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 1987 (Master of Divinity) and 1995 (Master of Sacred Theology). He served parishes in Missouri and Florida before accepting the call to Faith in 2002. He serves on the board of directors of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and on the advisory council of The Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University.

Pastor Honig is a trumpet player, having studied with Ron Toering, James Mackie, and James Stephenson. Throughout college and seminary and in the parish and local community, he has played in brass choirs, early music ensembles, jazz ensembles, and wind ensembles.

Pastor Honig is married to Sheryl, a professor of education at Valparaiso University. They have two adult sons, Chris and Tim.
